About Me
Hi, I’m Mariah, the ceramic artist behind Tico Makes.
I make pieces that I personally find interesting and aesthetically pleasing in some way. I’m drawn to soft textures, organic shapes, and slightly imperfect lines. You’ll see these recurring surface patterns that often resemble paths, horizons, and landscape forms. I spend a lot of time outside, and that visual language carries into my work from an intuitive place.
I focus on functional pieces, mugs, bowls, and small objects because they’re the ones people actually use. I’m interested in how pieces feel in your hands when you use them: the weight, the texture, and how those surfaces come alive when you’re holding them. My pieces give you something to see, something to physically feel, and something that pulls you into the moment a little more.
